The Panagal Park (PP) Metro station, located in the heart of the city’s bustling commercial hub, is set to revolutionize public transportation. Once operational by March 2027, this state-of-the-art underground station promises to ease traffic congestion and provide efficient transit solutions to a densely populated and commercially vibrant area.
Station Overview
The Panagal Park Metro station will be the largest underground station in Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II project (Boat Club to Kodambakkam). Key features include:
Dimensions: 19 meters wide, 319 meters long, and 26 meters deep. Crossover Facility: A 110-meter-long crossover within the 210-meter station area allows trains to switch tracks, enhancing operational flexibility. Construction Progress Significant advancements have been made in the station’s construction: 40% of the overall work is complete. The base slab construction is finalized, with 80% of the crossover work finished. Concourse and roof slab works are actively progressing. Access Points The station will feature five entry and exit points for convenient access: Sivagnanam Street, Pinjala Subramaniam Street,  Prakasam Street Bashiyam Street,  Nageswaran Road and Part of Corridor 4.
The Panagal Park Metro station is a critical component of Corridor 4, a 26.1-km stretch connecting Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass. The project includes another major crossover at the Lighthouse Metro station. Once completed, it will streamline urban transit and significantly reduce travel time for Chennai residents.
Constructed by ITD Cementation India, the Panagal Park Metro station is poised to become a landmark in Chennai’s transit landscape, addressing the city’s growing transportation demands and contributing to a more sustainable urban future.
