The teaser for Bad Girl, an upcoming coming-of-age drama directed by Varsha Bharath, was released on Sunday. Produced and presented by Vetri Maaran under his Grass Root Film Company in collaboration with Anurag Kashyap, the film features Anjali Sivaraman in the lead role.The teaser showcases Anjali as a teenage girl navigating the complex emotions of adolescence. After falling in love with a boy during high school, she faces restrictions imposed by her parents. Determined to break free, she vows to pursue her independence and rebel against the norms set by her family and society once she becomes an adult. The film delves into the societal conditioning and control often experienced by young women.
The cast also includes Shanthi Priya, Saranya Ravichandran, Hridhu Haroon, TeeJay Arunasalam, and Sashank Bommireddipalli. Bad Girl is set to have its world premiere at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, which runs from January 30 to February 9, 2025. It has been selected for the prestigious Tiger Competition, a significant milestone for the team.
The technical crew of Bad Girl includes cinematographers Preetha Jayaraman (ISC), Jagadeesh Ravi, and Prince Anderson; editor Radha Sridhar; and music composer Amit Trivedi, who marks his Tamil debut with this film.
