Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin expressed strong confidence in his party’s victory in the Erode (East) by-election, scheduled for February 5. Addressing party cadres, Stalin emphasized the significance of the constituency, known as the birthplace of rationalist leader Periyar, a key figure in Tamil Nadu’s political history.
Stalin highlighted that winning this bypoll would be a testament to the people’s approval of the DMK’s dedication to welfare and development. He pointed to several successful projects initiated by the DMK in the constituency, including infrastructure improvements, support for the local weaving industry, and welfare schemes such as the KMUT, Pudhumai Penn, and Tamil Pudhalvan, which have been implemented effectively in the region.
Stalin further reiterated that the DMK government has consistently delivered on its promises, gaining the trust of the Tamil Nadu electorate. He accused opposition parties of spreading misinformation and slander, which, he claimed, had been rejected by the people.
Referring to the AIADMK and BJP, who boycotted the by-election, Stalin criticized them for resorting to baseless accusations. He also indirectly referred to Seeman-led Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), suggesting that opposition parties lacked the courage to directly challenge the DMK and instead resorted to stirring up falsehoods.
The DMK president thanked the voters of Erode (East) for their unwavering support and urged party workers to secure a decisive victory. Stalin framed the by-election victory as a stepping stone to the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, declaring, “I look forward to the DMK’s great victory in Erode (East) as a prelude to the ‘Let’s win 200 – Let’s create history’ campaign for the 2026 elections.”
With a determined focus on the upcoming elections, Stalin’s appeal to party workers highlights the DMK’s ambition to strengthen its position in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
