Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai has firmly stated that Thiruparankundram Hill belongs to the temple, citing historical legal rulings.Addressing reporters, Annamalai questioned whether Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Minister Sekarbabu was aware of the historical facts. He pointed out that in 1926, the Madras High Court ruled that the entire hill belonged to the temple, and in 1931, the Privy Council reaffirmed this decision. He asserted that this had settled the matter legally.
Annamalai criticized the DMK government, alleging that it was now trying to hand over the hill, which was protected for Hindus by the British, to other interests. He urged Minister Sekarbabu to study the Privy Councilâs ruling before making statements on the issue.
He also remarked that merely wearing saffron attire and claiming to be a Murugan devotee was not enough and called for a clear stance from the minister on the matter.
