Virudhunagar, Feb 6: A devastating explosion at the Sathya Prabhu firecracker factory near Chinnavadi, close to Kovilpuli Kuthi in Virudhunagar, claimed the life of a woman and left seven others injured. Several buildings were reduced to rubble in the incident.The firecracker manufacturing unit, located in Chinnavadi, was operating as usual this morning, with workers engaged in their daily tasks. However, in the afternoon, a sudden explosion—believed to have been caused by friction—ignited a massive fire. Thick smoke billowed into the air as flames engulfed the factory.
Upon receiving information about the explosion, fire and rescue personnel rushed to the scene and battled to bring the fire under control. The explosion caused the collapse of five rooms within the factory premises. Tragically, a woman lost her life, and seven others sustained injuries.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the explosion, and rescue operations are ongoing.
