Chennai experienced dense fog in the early hours today, making it difficult for morning walkers and commuters. The thick mist reduced visibility, causing inconvenience to those who ventured out for their daily exercise routines.
Many walkers expressed concern over the sudden drop in visibility. ā€œI could barely see a few feet ahead. It was difficult to walk safely on the roads,ā€ said Ramesh Kumar, a regular walker at Marina Beach.
Doctors advised caution, especially for senior citizens and those with respiratory issues. ā€œThe cold and damp air can trigger breathing difficulties. Walkers should wear layered clothing and cover their noses with a scarf,ā€ suggested Dr. Priya Menon, a pulmonologist.
Fitness experts recommended delaying morning walks until visibility improves. ā€œIt’s safer to step out after sunrise when the fog clears. Alternatively, indoor exercises can be a good option,ā€ said fitness coach Arjun Rao.
Authorities have advised citizens to be careful while walking or driving during foggy conditions. Walkers are encouraged to wear reflective clothing and use well-lit pathways to avoid accidents.
