AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has asserted that neither money nor fame can enslave him. Speaking at a felicitation ceremony in Annur, Coimbatore, organized by the Attikadavu-Avinashi Project Coordination Committee, EPS highlighted the AIADMK’s achievements in implementing the much-needed irrigation scheme.
EPS stated that during AIADMK’s tenure, 85% of the Attikadavu-Avinashi project was completed at a cost of ₹1,652 crore, with funds allocated from the state government’s budget. He accused the ruling DMK government of deliberately stalling the project for four years due to political vendetta.
He also pointed out that AIADMK had sanctioned the construction of six check dams from Mettupalayam to Bhavani, but only one was 40% completed before the DMK came to power. He alleged that after assuming office, DMK put these crucial projects on hold, depriving farmers of much-needed water resources.
EPS described the Attikadavu-Avinashi project as the most significant water project ever implemented in Tamil Nadu. He expressed pride in completing the project, stating that he considers it a fulfillment of his life’s purpose.
However, he criticized those who take credit for inaugurating projects without making any effort towards their implementation. “I launched this project without waiting for central government assistance, allocating funds directly from the state budget,” he emphasized.
EPS accused the DMK government of being incompetent and indifferent to public welfare. He firmly stated, “No one can enslave me with money or fame. I will never be anyone’s subordinate.”
Looking ahead, he assured that when AIADMK regains power in 2026, the second phase of the Attikadavu-Avinashi project will be launched immediately. He concluded by dedicating the felicitation event to farmers, recognizing their unwavering support for the initiative.
With these strong statements, EPS reinforced AIADMK’s commitment to infrastructure development and positioned himself as a leader who prioritizes people’s welfare over political gains.
