On the occasion of Thirumalai Nayakar’s 442nd birth anniversary, former AIADMK ministers Kadambur Raju, Sellur Raju, Rajenthra Balaji, and Rajan Chellappa paid tribute by garlanding his statue at Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal.

Following the event, the former ministers addressed the media. When questioned about former minister Sengottaiyan’s remarks and the ongoing discussions within AIADMK, Sellur Raju dismissed any controversy, stating that such issues were being exaggerated.

He clarified that Sengottaiyan had only pointed out the absence of MGR and Jayalalithaa’s portraits at a felicitation ceremony organized by a farmers’ association and did not criticize AIADMK leadership. He accused certain pro-DMK media outlets of misinterpreting the statement to create divisions within the party.

Sellur Raju further alleged that DMK supporters were deliberately spreading false narratives to tarnish Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s leadership. He asserted that Sengottaiyan had no complaints against Palaniswami and had only expressed concerns about the event organizers.
