Union Home Minister Amit Shah landed in Coimbatore last night to attend a series of events, including the inauguration of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) new district office and participation in the Maha Shivaratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Center.
Following his visit, security in the city has been significantly tightened, with 7,000 police personnel deployed across key locations. Tight vigil is maintained at BJP office in Peelamedu, the Isha Center, and all travel routes. Authorities have also placed restrictions to prevent any disruptions, as several groups have announced protests and black flag demonstrations against his visit.
Amit Shah arrived in Coimbatore from New Delhi by a special flight. He stayed at a private hotel in the Nava India.
The Home Minister will attend the grand Maha Shivaratri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Center as a special guest. The event, hosted annually by spiritual leader Sadhguru, attracts thousands of devotees and prominent personalities.
After the celebrations, Amit Shah is expected to stay overnight at Isha before departing by helicopter to the airport the next morning. He will then return to New Delhi.
