Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday announced that the financial assistance provided to owners of boats seized by the Sri Lankan Navy would be increased from ₹6 lakh to ₹8 lakh.According to an official release, Mr. Stalin also announced that the financial aid granted to families of the fishermen in Sri Lankan prisons would be increased from ₹350 a day to ₹500 a day. The announcements were made a few hours after Mr. Stalin’s official events in Nagapattinam district during which he interacted with representatives of various fishermen associations, including some of them at the Nambiyar Nagar small fishing harbour.
