Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written to Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, urging immediate action to secure the release of 14 Indian fishermen who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy along with their fishing boat on March 6, 2025 near Rameswaram.
In an official statement, the Tamil Nadu government emphasized the need for swift diplomatic intervention to release the fishermen and their boats. Stalin also requested the Central government to take urgent measures to prevent further arrests, stressing the importance of strong diplomatic engagement to safeguard Indian fishermen from such incidents in the future.
