Mineral smuggling: Annamalai Accuses DMK govt

Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of failing to take action against those involved in mineral smuggling. His statement comes in the wake of a recent seizure of two trucks allegedly used to smuggle minerals to Kerala.
In a post on X, Annamalai claimed that Tamil Nadu’s mineral resources have been systematically looted since the DMK came to power. “The looting is solely carried out by DMK members. This not only depletes the State’s resources but also causes a shortage of construction materials, forcing people to pay higher prices,” he alleged.
He further criticized the government’s inaction, asserting that DMK members are exploiting Tamil Nadu for financial gains while the administration remains silent. Raising concerns about smuggling activities in border districts, he questioned, “When will the DMK government take action against the owners of trucks involved in smuggling minerals, particularly from Coimbatore, Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi?”
Annamalai’s remarks add to the ongoing political discourse surrounding resource management and governance in Tamil Nadu, as opposition parties continue to target the ruling DMK over issues of corruption and mismanagement.
