Accepting the verdict of the Madras High Court’s Madurai Bench, DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan has directed party members to remove flagpoles installed in public places.
In his statement, he said: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, in its order dated January 27, directed the removal of flagpoles installed on national highways, state highways, and properties owned by local bodies. This order applies to all political parties, organizations, and groups based on caste and religion, with a deadline of 12 weeks for compliance.
An appeal was filed against this decision, but a two-judge bench upheld the order on the 6th of this month. Following this, the DMK has decided to comply with the court’s ruling and remove all flagpoles installed in public places.”
