Vietnam, one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations, is set to become more accessible to Chennai travelers, with direct flights expected soon. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has urged international airlines to introduce direct flights from Chennai to Vietnam, Australia, Japan, and Cambodia, making travel easier for Indian tourists and business travelers.
Officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that discussions are underway to establish direct connectivity between Chennai and Vietnam. This decision follows Vietnam’s surge in international visitors, reaching 17.5 million in 2024, signaling its growing appeal as a global travel hub. The need for better air connectivity was emphasized at a recent international conference in Australia, where AAI officials highlighted Chennai’s potential as a key aviation hub for Southeast Asian routes.
AAI officials revealed that several airlines have shown interest in launching direct flights from Chennai to Vietnam, Japan, and Cambodia. These new routes would not only boost tourism but also strengthen business and cultural ties between India and these nations. If implemented, Chennaites can look forward to a seamless travel experience to Vietnam and beyond.
