Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin stated on Thursday that the Supreme Courtās verdict on the authority of the Governor is ājust the beginningā in the fight for state autonomy. He emphasized that the ruling reinforces the DMKās long-standing position that the Governor is āmerely a postmanā between the Union and state governments.
In a detailed statement, Stalin hailed April 8 as a āRed Letter Day,ā describing the Supreme Courtās decision as a āmonumental judgmentā that curtails the Governorās overreach and safeguards statesā rights.
The statement follows the apex courtās ruling two days earlier, which deemed ten billsāpreviously withheld by Governor R N Raviāas having received assent, in a case filed by the Tamil Nadu government.
The Chief Minister accused Governor R N Ravi of engaging in āunethical politicsā within universities, alleging that he misused his position as Chancellor to āpaint campuses saffron.ā
