Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin stated on Thursday that the Supreme Courtâs verdict on the authority of the Governor is âjust the beginningâ in the fight for state autonomy. He emphasized that the ruling reinforces the DMKâs long-standing position that the Governor is âmerely a postmanâ between the Union and state governments.
In a detailed statement, Stalin hailed April 8 as a âRed Letter Day,â describing the Supreme Courtâs decision as a âmonumental judgmentâ that curtails the Governorâs overreach and safeguards statesâ rights.
The statement follows the apex courtâs ruling two days earlier, which deemed ten billsâpreviously withheld by Governor R N Raviâas having received assent, in a case filed by the Tamil Nadu government.
The Chief Minister accused Governor R N Ravi of engaging in âunethical politicsâ within universities, alleging that he misused his position as Chancellor to âpaint campuses saffron.â
