Nagercoil, April 16: The iconic glass bridge connecting the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue in Kanyakumari has been temporarily closed to tourists due to ongoing maintenance work. The district administration announced that the bridge will remain closed until April 19.

The bridge, which was opened to the public in January this year, quickly became a major tourist attraction. Positioned in the middle of the sea, it offers a unique experience of walking above the waters while enjoying breathtaking views of the coastline.
However, due to its location amidst salty sea air, the bridge requires regular maintenance to prevent corrosion and ensure safety. This is the second round of maintenance since its inauguration.
Officials stated that the upkeep began yesterday and will continue until April 19. Tourists are advised to plan their visits accordingly, as entry to the bridge will not be permitted during this period.
The district administration emphasized that these measures are essential to maintain the structural integrity and safety of the bridge, ensuring a secure experience for future visitors.
