VHP to Continue Statewide Protests Until Minister Ponmudi Apologizes Publicly: Balamanimaran

Viluppuram, April 16: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) will continue its protests across Tamil Nadu until Minister K. Ponmudi tenders a public apology, said the organisation’s Tamil Nadu General Secretary Balamanimaran.
Speaking to the media in Viluppuram, Balamanimaran expressed strong objection to Minister Ponmudi’s recent remarks, stating that the VHP had issued two statements immediately after the controversial video of his speech surfaced. “We demanded that he be removed from his ministerial position and issue a public apology to the people,” he said.
Following the backlash, Ponmudi was removed from his party post. However, Balamanimaran insisted that the VHP’s primary demand remains unfulfilled — his removal from the cabinet. “His speech is beyond description and deeply offensive to every Hindu and especially to women,” he said.
Balamanimaran further added, “Until he is dismissed from his ministerial position and offers a public apology, our protests will continue throughout Tamil Nadu.”
The controversy has sparked significant political reactions, with several Hindu groups demanding accountability for what they claim are derogatory and hurtful remarks made by the minister.
