China has denied reports suggesting that talks are underway with the United States to reach a deal on tariffs. In a statement on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said there is “no factual basis” for claims of progress in the negotiations.
Guo emphasized that China and the US are not currently in talks or consultations regarding tariffs. He further stated that the tariff war was initiated by the US, and China’s stance remains unchanged. âWe will fight if it is necessary, but our doors are open if the US wants to engage in dialogue,â Guo added, reiterating that any discussions must be based on equality, respect, and mutual benefit.
