The Election Commission has started its inquiry into the ‘Two Leaves’ symbol issue.
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) was earlier given the symbol. O. Panneerselvam (OPS), his son O.P. Ravindranath, Pugazhendhi, Ramkumar Adithan, and K.C. Palanisamy had challenged this and filed petitions with the Election Commission.
The EC had conducted hearings with all parties last December. Later, EPS moved the Madras High Court and the Court then stayed the EC’s inquiry into the rival petitions. Now, the stay has been lifted. The EC issued notices asking all petitioners to appear on April year. Following this, the inquiry has resumed.
During the hearing, former minister and AIADMK MP C.V. Shanmugam represented EPS’s side. Lawyer Rajalakshmi appeared for OPS’s side.
