In a grand spectacle that drew thousands, Lord Kallazhagar entered the Vaigai River in Madurai early on May 12 as part of the Chithirai Festival. Adorned in green silk, symbolizing prosperity, the deity’s descent was met with loud chants of “Govinda” from ecstatic devotees.
Arriving from Alagar Kovil on a golden horse vahana, Kallazhagar was ceremoniously welcomed by Lord Veeraraghava Perumal. The green silk attire was chosen through a traditional ritual, believed to forecast a fruitful year ahead.
The event, marked by vibrant rituals and tight security, showcased Madurai’s spiritual fervor and cultural unity.
