The team of the upcoming film Devil’s Double: Next Level starring Santhanam held a lively press meet in Chennai ahead of the film’s global theatrical release on May 16. Produced by Niharika Entertainment under The Show People banner, the film is presented by actor Arya.
Directed by S. Prem Anand, who earlier helmed DD Returns, the movie features a star-studded cast including Santhanam, Geethika Tiwari, Selvaraghavan, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Nizhalgal Ravi, Motta Rajendran, Maran, Kasthuri, Redin Kingsley, and Yashika Anand.
Cinematography is handled by Deepak Kumar Padhy, with music composed by OfRo. Bharath Vikraman is in charge of editing while art direction is by A.R. Mohan. The film is touted as a comedy-horror entertainer with fantasy elements and will be hitting screens worldwide on May 16.
At the press meet, director Prem Anand said, “Santhanam and Arya are the true embodiment of the Thirukkural couplet about genuine friendship. Their support gave me the opportunity to work on this grand film. I once jokingly told Santhanam I’d build statues for him and Arya if the film became a success. Later, when production was delayed, Santhanam told me, ‘Forget the statues, just don’t damage our friendship and finish the film soon.’ That’s the kind of bond we share.”
He added, “The film features two veteran directors, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Selvaraghavan, in important roles. This is not your average horror film—it contains an entire fantasy world. The post-production was a huge challenge. The output has been excellent and I believe this will be a perfect summer treat for all audiences. I thank the media for supporting DD Returns, and I hope for the same support again.”
Actor Arya, who is presenting the film, shared, “DD Returns was one of my favorite films for its clever story, twists, and humor. When Prem narrated the concept of Devil’s Double: Next Level, I found it instantly fascinating—it involves characters being transported into different realities. The film was made on a good budget and the final output is fantastic. Santhanam’s full cooperation made this possible. I’m proud to present this film and hope we’ll collaborate again for its sequel.”
Santhanam, the lead actor, said, “This film is very special to me. Arya and I speak regularly. One day he asked me why the fun from my earlier comedy days was missing. I explained the challenges of being a lead actor. That’s when he told me to go all in for this film and assured me he’d handle everything else. I poured my creativity into this movie.”
He praised the director, saying, “I call Prem Anand the Christopher Nolan of Tamil cinema because his stories never stick to a single line—they have many layers and are executed with great clarity. This film will be a treat for everyone. You’ll find solid storytelling, comedy, acting, and entertainment. Please watch it in theatres with your family and friends on May 16.”
Devil’s Double: Next Level promises to be a wholesome entertainer blending humor, fantasy, and horror, and aims to elevate the comedy-horror genre in Tamil cinema to the next level.
