Kyiv, May 26: Ukraine was hit by a massive Russian drone and missile attack for the second night in a row. Officials said at least 13 people were killed. Dozens more were injured.
The attack happened during a planned prisoner swap between Russia and Ukraine. The swap is the only clear result of recent peace talks in Istanbul. Those talks have not led to a ceasefire.
Kyiv Mayor said 10 people were hurt in the capital by 3 am Sunday. Later, Ukraine’s emergency service reported four people dead and 16 injured in the Kyiv region alone. Among the injured were three children.
Despite the violence, both sides continued the prisoner exchange. Ukraine and Russia each brought home 307 soldiers on Saturday. This followed the release of 390 people the day before. More releases are expected soon. This could become the largest swap in the three-year war.
