Dr. K. Krishnasamy, leader of the Puthiya Thamizhagam party, has raised concerns over the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party’s adherence to its proclaimed principles of social justice. He pointed out that despite the DMK’s frequent emphasis on social justice, its recent actions, particularly in the selection of candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, seem to contradict this stance.
In a statement, Dr. Krishnasamy highlighted that the DMK nominated candidates based on religious affiliations—one Christian, one Muslim, and one Hindu—suggesting a strategy aimed at securing votes from specific religious communities. He questioned where the principle of social justice is reflected in such selections, implying that the party’s actions are more about vote-bank politics than genuine commitment to social equity.
This critique adds to the ongoing discourse about the authenticity of political parties’ commitments to social justice in Tamil Nadu. Dr. Krishnasamy’s comments urge a reevaluation of how social justice is practiced in political decision-making, beyond mere rhetoric.
