Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Seeman has lashed out at the ruling DMK government, accusing it of deliberate inaction and misleading the public on several high-profile cases, including the Kodanad murder and robbery case, the Thoothukudi police firing incident, and recent sexual assault verdicts.“It has been four years since the DMK claimed it would complete the investigation into the Kodanad murder case and deliver justice within two months. Yet, no justice has been served. The inquiry report on the Thoothukudi police firing incident was submitted to the government several months ago, but there has been no action on it,” Seeman said, strongly criticizing the government’s lack of follow-through.
He further alleged that the DMK is in a “Kumbhakarna-like slumber” when it comes to serious issues that require swift and decisive action. “They pretend to be fast and responsible only when there’s a court directive,” he added, citing the Anna University sexual harassment case as an example. “The DMK is now falsely claiming credit for speeding up the verdict in that case, which was actually driven by court orders,” he said.
Seeman also found fault with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s remarks regarding the Pollachi sexual assault case. “Stalin amusingly claims that the verdict in the Pollachi case was the result of his government’s efforts, when in fact, the government played no part in speeding up the judicial process,” he charged.
Rejecting the notion that the DMK is politically invincible, Seeman said, “The DMK is not an undefeatable party. It has a history of facing massive defeats, to the extent that it could not even become the opposition party.”
