The ruling DMK held its General Council meeting on Sunday in Madurai. The party passed 27 key resolutions at the event, attended by over 10,000 members, including Chief Minister MK Stalin, ministers, MPs, MLAs, and senior leaders.
One major resolution condemned the Union Government for not giving Tamil Nadu its fair share of funds. Another resolution called for ensuring DMKās victory in the 2026 Assembly elections and re-electing MK Stalin as Chief Minister.
The party also declared June 3, the birthday of former leader Karunanidhi, as āClassical Tamil Day.ā It praised Stalin for improving womenās lives and urged party members to spread the word about the governmentās achievements.
The meeting was held on a 90-acre ground in Uthangudi, Madurai. This was the first DMK General Council meeting in Madurai in 47 years, highlighting the partyās focus on the southern region.
DMK also added two new wings ā one for the differently abled and one for academics ā taking the total number of internal party wings to 25.
