Chennai witnessed a significant decline in gold prices on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The price of 22-carat gold fell by ₹150 per gram, bringing it down to ₹8,980. Consequently, the cost of one sovereign (8 grams) decreased by ₹1,200, settling at ₹71,840.This drop follows a period of relative stability, where gold prices remained unchanged at ₹73,040 per sovereign on both June 5 and 6. Earlier in the week, prices had seen incremental increases: ₹1,120 on Monday, ₹160 on Tuesday, and ₹80 on Wednesday.
Silver prices also experienced a decline. The rate per gram decreased by ₹1, making it ₹117, while the price per kilogram dropped by ₹1,000, now standing at ₹117,000.
