Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has sharply criticized the BJP-led Union government for delaying the publication of findings from the Keezhadi archaeological excavation. Accusing the Centre of deliberately ignoring scientific evidence to suppress Tamil history, Stalin announced a protest condemning the Modi regime’s stance on the matter.Speaking on Friday, Stalin said the BJP-RSS ecosystem was engaged in a daily battle to erase the history and heritage of the Tamil people. “Even in the face of carbon-dated artefacts and Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) reports from reputed international laboratories, the Centre continues to demand more proof,” he said.
Citing a recent media report confirming the scientific credibility of the Keezhadi findings, Stalin remarked, “They recoil not because evidence is lacking, but because the truth does not fit their narrative. We fought for centuries to unearth our past. They fight every day to erase it.”
In a scathing comparison, Stalin criticized the BJP’s support for the unproven Sarasvati Civilization while disregarding the rigorously verified antiquity of Tamil culture. “Despite opposition from respected historians and archaeologists, the BJP promotes myth over science,” he added.
Meanwhile, the DMK students’ wing has announced a massive protest on June 18 in Madurai, denouncing the Centre’s refusal to acknowledge the Keezhadi findings. The protest, to be held at Veeraganur Bypass Road, is being organized by DMK Students’ Wing Secretary R. Rajiv Gandhi, who said the Centre’s anti-Tamil stance must be challenged with public action.
The Keezhadi excavations, which have revealed a sophisticated ancient urban civilization in Tamil Nadu, have been hailed as a significant discovery in Indian archaeology. However, the delay in publishing key findings by the central authorities has sparked widespread criticism in Tamil Nadu.
