The Tamil Nadu government has launched a monthly scholarship of ₹1,000 for children affected by HIV. This initiative, announced on World Blood Donor Day, aims to provide financial help and build life skills among affected youth.Under the scheme, ₹1.89 crore has been allocated to support 7,618 children across the state. The program includes life-skill training in 100 government schools and the creation of “Red Ribbon Clubs” in 50 colleges to raise HIV awareness.
Health Minister Subramanian inaugurated the initiative in Chennai, praising regular blood donors. He emphasized that government hospitals are well-stocked with essential medicines for HIV patients. District officials will track blood donation efforts and recognize consistent donors at an award ceremony in October.
