As actor Vijay turned 51 yesterday, fans were treated to a special surprise from the makers of his much-anticipated and final film, Jana Nayagan. A glimpse video was unveiled, offering a thrilling look at Vijay in a khaki uniform, effectively confirming that he plays a police officer in the film. The action-packed snippet shows him taking control during a riot situation in his signature style, setting the tone for a politically charged action drama.
With this role, Jana Nayagan marks the fourth time Vijay is seen as a police officer on screen, following his previous portrayals in Pokkiri (2007), Jilla (2014), and Theri (2016). Directed by H Vinoth, this is the filmmaker’s first collaboration with the Tamil superstar. The film is billed as a political action thriller and will be Vijay’s final cinematic outing before he fully transitions into active politics.
The film boasts a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Priyamani, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mamitha Baiju, and Narain. It also reunites Vijay with several of his former co-stars—Prakash Raj after Varisu, Pooja Hegde after Beast, and Gautham Menon after Leo. Notably, veteran actress Revathy will be seen playing Vijay’s mother, two decades after she portrayed his sister in Thamizhan (2002).

Jana Nayagan is produced by Venkat K Narayana and co-produced by Lohith N K and Jagadish Palanisamy. The film is slated for a grand theatrical release on January 9, 2026, just in time for the Pongal festivities.
