The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has come down heavily on the Tamil Nadu Police over the death of Ajithkumar, a 27-year-old security guard. The court said, “Ajith died after being attacked all over his body. Even a murderer would not hit like this.”The court raised several strong questions:
– Why was Ajith’s body moved to Madurai instead of keeping the investigation in Thirupuvanam, where he died?
– Was this to avoid CCTV cameras?
– Who gave permission for a special police team to handle the case?
– Why was no FIR filed in the theft case that led to Ajith’s detention?
The court said some evidence appears to have been destroyed. It noted that the investigating officer did not collect all key evidence. The judges called this dangerous, especially in a state like Tamil Nadu with high literacy.
