Dr. Nikita, who filed the gold theft complaint that led to the police inquiry and eventual death of 29-year-old Ajithkumar IN POLICE CUSTODY, has a past fraud case pending against her. Back in 2011, a case was filed at Thirumangalam Police Station in Madurai accusing her of cheating ₹16 lakh by promising government jobs like teacher and VAO. The case is still pending. Ajithkumar, a temple helper, had assisted Nikita and her elderly mother during a temple visit. Later, she accused him of stealing 9.5 sovereigns of gold from her car. After being taken for police questioning, Ajithkumar died while being taken to the hospital. It has now come to light that both Nikita and her mother have a criminal background, raising concerns over the original complaint and the events that followed.
