Dindigul, July 4: Former BJP Mandal functionary Balakrishnan (39) was brutally hacked to death by an unidentified gang near Sanarpatti, close to Natham in Dindigul district.Balakrishnan, a resident of Rajakkapatti near Natham, was involved in river sand sales and lorry-related businesses. On Wednesday night, while he was travelling near Sanarpatti, a six-member gang intercepted him using two motorcycles.
The gang attacked him with sharp weapons, including machetes. Balakrishnan died on the spot due to the severe injuries.
On receiving the information, Dindigul Superintendent of Police Pradeep and DSP Cibi Sai Soundar rushed to the scene and began investigations.
So far, the motive behind the murder remains unclear, and the identity of the attackers is yet to be established. Police have begun collecting CCTV footage from the surrounding areas and are intensifying the investigation.
