Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman has strongly criticised the Tamil Nadu government over the threats received by Sakthiswaran, the key eyewitness in the Ajithkumar custodial death case in Thiruppuvanam.Sakthiswaran had bravely recorded and submitted video proof showing Ajithkumar being attacked by police. He also testified boldly in court. Now, he has alleged that he is receiving death threats from supporters of the arrested cop Raja, which has caused shock.
Seeman questioned how police personnel arrested for murder still dare to threaten a witness. He asked whether the police department, higher officials, or even the ruling party were behind these threats to silence witnesses and protect the accused.
He praised Sakthiswaranâs smart and bold act of safely submitting the video to court, even after CCTV footage from a nearby temple was allegedly taken away by the police.
Seeman said it is a failure of the DMK government that police brutality continues unchecked. He warned that refusing to give protection to witnesses, even after a High Court order, shows disrespect to the judiciary and hints at a larger conspiracy to shield the guilty.
He also recalled the murder of activist Jakkubar Ali from Pudukkottai, who was killed after the state allegedly failed to provide security despite threats.
Seeman urged the government to immediately offer full protection to all witnesses in the Ajithkumar case to ensure justice is served.
