In a shocking incident, a woman councillor was brutally murdered by her husband in Tiruninravur, located in Tiruvallur district. The deceased has been identified as Gomathi, a councillor representing the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK).
According to police sources, the gruesome act was reportedly carried out by her husband, Stephen Raj, who suspected Gomathi of being in an extramarital relationship. In a fit of rage, he allegedly attacked and hacked her to death.
Following the incident, Stephen Raj surrendered at the Tiruninravur Police Station. He has been arrested, and a detailed investigation is currently underway. Police officials are interrogating him to ascertain the exact motive and sequence of events that led to the brutal killing.
