ICC gets new CEO

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced the appointment of Sanjog Gupta as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Gupta will officially assume charge on July 7, becoming the seventh person to hold the post. A veteran of India’s sports and media ecosystem, Gupta currently serves as CEO of Sports & Live Experiences at JioStar. With over two decades of experience across content, strategy, and operations, he has been widely credited with shaping the modern sports broadcast landscape in India ICC Chairman Jay Shah welcomed Gupta’s appointment, calling him a visionary leader whose expertise would prove vital in the organisation’s next phase of growth. Sanjog brings extensive experience in sports strategy and commercialisation, which will be invaluable for the ICC,” Shah said. “His deep understanding of global sports, media and entertainment, along with his passion for technology and the cricket fan’s perspective, will be essential as we seek to expand cricket’s reach-especially with Olympic inclusion on the horizon.” Gupta was appointed following a rigorous global recruitment process that attracted more than 2,500 applicants from 25 countries. After multiple rounds of shortlisting, the ICC’s Nominations Committee, comprising Imran Khwaja, Richard Thompson, Shammi Silva, and Devajit Saikia, unanimously recommended Gupta. The decision was later ratified by the full ICC Board. @@@@
