The announcement was made today, July 7, marking Rishab Shetty’s birthday.Directed by and starring Rishab Shetty, the original Kantara film—released in 2022—was a pan-India sensation, made on a modest budget and grossing over ₹400 crore. The prequel, Kantara Chapter 1, explores the events leading up to the first film and is currently progressing through various stages of production.
Interestingly, the Tamil film Idli Kadai, starring Dhanush, is also set for release on October 1, setting the stage for an exciting box office clash.
