Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered an inspiring address to students during the platinum jubilee celebrations of Jamal Mohamed College in Trichy, urging them to unite under the banner of social justice, pursue education with dedication, and remain politically aware.

“What we see in Tamil Nadu today is the result of decades of struggle for social justice,” the Chief Minister declared. “Students must unite under one banner—Tamil Nadu—and focus on their education, which is your only permanent wealth.”

Though he clarified that he hadn’t come to speak politics, Stalin insisted that political awareness is vital for students, especially in a state where the fight for equality and progress has shaped its identity. “Students must never take shortcuts like the ‘catch route’ (shortcut methods),” he said. “Your focus must remain on studies.”

CM Stalin recalled that former students of Jamal Mohamed College like Ministers K.N. Nehru and M.R.K. Panneerselvam have gone on to hold senior positions in his cabinet. “Tomorrow, some of you could be added to this list. You must. You can become pillars of Tamil Nadu’s growth,” he told the gathering.

He also praised the college for producing socially respected and successful individuals over the past 75 years. “This college has nurtured students who became assets to society,” he noted.

Stalin emphasized the value of lasting friendships formed during college life. “Friendships built here should last until old age,” he said. “Friendship among students should resonate within society too.” He added that despite his busy schedule, interacting with students always brings him energy.

In a major announcement, the Chief Minister revealed that the DMK government would soon distribute free laptops to 20 lakh students across Tamil Nadu. “Our government will always stand by the youth. We are implementing numerous educational schemes because we prioritize your future. Soon, 20 lakh students will receive laptops to support their learning journey,” he declared.

Reiterating his vision of an enlightened youth population, Stalin said, “The DMK government will always be a support system for young people. Our goal is to transform the younger generation into a knowledge-driven community.”
