The bail petition filed by Chithradevi, the mother-in-law of Rithanya, a newlywed who died by suicide in Kaikatti Pudur, Avinashi, Tiruppur district, has been dismissed by the Tiruppur District Principal Court.

Rithanya’s death is being investigated as a case of dowry harassment.

In connection with the case, Rithanya’s husband, Kavinkumar, her father-in-law, Eeswaramoorthy, and her mother-in-law, Chithradevi, were arrested and are currently in prison.

While the bail petitions of her husband and father-in-law had already been dismissed, Chithradevi’s bail plea came up for hearing on July 9th.

The judge had then adjourned the hearing to July 11th.

During today’s proceedings, Rithanya’s parents filed an intervening petition opposing the grant of bail to Chithradevi. This petition was accepted for hearing, and after arguments from both sides, the judge ordered the dismissal of Chithradevi’s bail application.
