Senior BJP leader H. Raja has said that the people of Tamil Nadu have made up their minds to remove the DMK government. Speaking to reporters in Madurai, he claimed there is strong anti-DMK sentiment across the state. He said winning an election is not about how many parties are in a coalition but about public support. He recalled that earlier it seemed impossible to defeat the DMK, but once the BJP and AIADMK formed an alliance, there was new energy among workers and the public.
H. Raja compared the situation to 1971, when many parties came together but could not defeat Indira Gandhi. However, in 1977, the people brought a change. He believes a similar change is coming in Tamil Nadu.
He also accused the DMK government of corruption, especially in temple land management and in local bodies like Madurai and Kumbakonam corporations. He said officials involved in scams should be removed immediately.
Raja further stated that the recent large gathering of Murugan devotees in Madurai is proof that people are supporting the BJP’s stand on religious issues, while the DMK has moved away from Tamil culture and faith.
