Puthiya Tamilagam (PTK) party leader Dr. K. Krishnasamy has submitted a formal petition to Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Muruganandam, seeking immediate legal action against Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) leader Seeman for allegedly promoting and participating in illicit liquor-related activities.
In his petition, Krishnasamy alleged that Seeman and his supporters were openly involved in brewing, consuming, and distributing kal (a form of country liquor) in violation of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act. He pointed out that the manufacture, sale, and consumption of such intoxicants are strictly prohibited under the law.
Krishnasamy further accused Seeman of issuing unlawful threats in public. He claimed that during a recent event, Seeman openly displayed a sickle on stage and warned police officers that if those brewing kal were arrested, police stations would be attacked. Krishnasamy argued that this not only amounts to inciting violence but also undermines law enforcement and encourages illegal activity.
Calling Seeman’s actions a serious violation of law and a punishable offense, Krishnasamy urged the Tamil Nadu government to register a criminal case against Seeman and arrest him immediately. He also demanded that the scheduled Kal Viduthalai Maanadu (Liquor Liberation Conference) to be held in Tiruchirappalli on July 27 be banned, citing concerns about law and order.
Further, Krishnasamy requested the state administration to issue directives to all district Superintendents of Police to take strict preventive action. He called for the arrest of Seeman and his associates under the Goondas Act, citing them as anti-social elements who are openly defying state laws.
The petition has intensified the political debate in Tamil Nadu over the issue of prohibition, and raised questions about the legal and ethical boundaries of political activism related to liquor policies.
