Six flights were cancelled at the Chennai International Airport on Wednesday due to low passenger turnout, according to airport officials. The decision affected both domestic and international services, causing changes in travel plans for several passengers.Among the cancelled departures were an Air India Express flight to Singapore scheduled at 4:50 AM, and two Akasa Airlines flightsâone to Andaman at 7:40 AM and another to Mumbai at 1:35 PM.
On the arrivals side, three flights were also cancelled. These included an Akasa Airlines flight from Mumbai at 7:00 AM, a flight from Andaman at 12:30 PM, and an Air India Express service from Singapore expected at 2:50 PM.
Airline staff informed affected passengers in advance. Those who had booked on the cancelled flights were either rescheduled on alternate flights or offered tickets for a later date.
Chennai airport authorities confirmed the cancellations were purely due to low passenger numbers and not technical or weather-related issues. They also assured that necessary arrangements were made to minimize inconvenience for travellers.
