Former AIADMK Minister and Organizing Secretary Anwar Raja joined the DMK on Monday. He was welcomed into the party by Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin at the DMK headquarters Arivalayam in Chennai. After joining the DMK, Anwar Raja spoke to the media.
He said the AIADMK has strayed from its original path and is now under the control of the BJP.
“Even though Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave interviews three times, not once did he say Edappadi Palaniswami is the CM candidate,” he pointed out.
“Amit Shah only said that the NDA will win power, and the BJP will be part of it,” Anwar Raja added.
He also took a dig at Palaniswami, saying, “Just like how US President Donald Trump once said, ‘I stopped the India-Pak war,’ Edappadi keeps claiming, ‘I am the Chief Minister candidate.'”
Anwar Raja’s switch is seen as a blow to the AIADMK and a boost for the DMK ahead of future elections.
