Tamil Nadu has secured the second position among Indian states for per capita income, with a value of ₹1,96,309 for the financial year 2024-2025. This information was revealed in a written response by Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary in the Lok Sabha.The data indicates that Tamil Nadu’s per capita income is closely behind Karnataka, which holds the top spot with ₹2,04,605.
Following the announcement, Tamil Nadu’s Finance Minister Thangam Thenarasu stated that the achievement is a testament to the “Dravidian model” of governance led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. He highlighted that the state’s success is a result of significant progress in industry, education, infrastructure, and social welfare initiatives.
The minister also pointed out that the average growth of per capita income in the state over the last four years has been 8.15%, a notable increase compared to the 4.42% growth rate during the previous administration. Furthermore, Tamil Nadu’s per capita income growth over the past decade (83.3%) has surpassed the national average (57%) for the same period.
