Chennai MP and DMK leader Kanimozhi has urged the Central Government to immediately release the final report on the Keeladi excavations. She said that the public has the right to know the truth about the findings.
Kanimozhi visited the Keeladi excavation site in Sivaganga district and pointed out that while Tamil Nadu’s archaeology department is continuing excavations, the final report from earlier digs by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has still not been published.
She stated that the delay in releasing the report raises suspicion and claimed that efforts are being made to suppress Tamil history. Kanimozhi stressed that the excavations at Keeladi are significant in proving the existence of an ancient urban civilisation along the banks of the Vaigai river, possibly older than the Ganges civilisation.
She also demanded that the Centre give proper recognition to the findings from Keeladi and ensure transparency in handling such historically important discoveries.
