Vijay Devarakonda’s upcoming film Kingdom is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 31, 2025. Ahead of the big release, the actor visited Chennai to engage with the Tamil media and press, expressing his excitement and gratitude.
Directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, Kingdom is a high-voltage emotional action drama featuring music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film is produced by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, and presented by Srikara Studios.
During the media interaction, Vijay thanked Tamil audiences for their continued support and shared insights into the making of Kingdom. He recalled how director Gowtham impressed him with the story, which spans the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Sri Lanka. Vijay emphasized that the film was crafted to resonate with both Telugu and Tamil viewers.
The actor described Kingdom as a mix of strong emotions and action, in the spirit of classic Rajinikanth films. Notably, though the team is promoting the film in Andhra and Telangana, Chennai is the only city outside those states where Vijay chose to promote the film in person, showcasing his fondness for Tamil Nadu.
Vijay also expressed gratitude to actor Suriya, who lent his voice for the teaser. “I hesitated to ask, but Suriya Anna graciously agreed and his voice took the teaser to another level,” said Vijay.
He praised Anirudh’s commitment to the project, mentioning how the composer had just finished performing at the pre-release event and was already in Chennai finalizing the background score. Vijay joked about wanting to “kidnap” Anirudh for his dedication.
Vijay revealed that he underwent a drastic transformation for the role, even shaving his head. He plays a constable who undergoes a powerful evolution, and he expressed hope to take on a full-length police role in the future.
He concluded by thanking the Chennai media for their warmth and consistent support, saying the city always feels like home.
After the event, Vijay took photos and interacted with members of the press, showing his appreciation.
Kingdom promises a gripping theatrical experience in both Tamil and Telugu.
