The Madras High Court on Thursday said the post-mortem report of Rithanya, who died in a suspected dowry harassment case, does not clearly confirm if she was physically assaulted.The court noted that the report had missing details. It asked for a full and clear post-mortem report to be filed soon.
The court also gave instructions to the police on handling the bail requests of Rithanya’s husband Kavinkumar, his father Eswaramoorthy, and mother Chithra Devi.
Rithanya, aged 27, was from Kaikatti Pudur near Avinashi in Tirupur district. She died by suicide in June, just two and a half months after her wedding. Her family says she faced dowry harassment.
After her death, her husband and in-laws were arrested and sent to jail.
