Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam (OPS) has clarified that his recent meeting with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was purely personal and had no political motive.
Addressing the media and sharing a statement on social media, OPS said that his visit was only to enquire about the health of Stalin’s elder brother, M.K. Muthu.
OPS strongly denied speculation that he was planning to join the DMK or align with Stalin politically. He called such rumours false and said they were being spread deliberately to create confusion. He stated that his visit was in line with Tamil cultural values, where it is common to show concern for others’ well-being regardless of political differences.
He also said that politicising a personal meeting was inappropriate and disrespectful. “I have no intention of joining the DMK. I went only out of courtesy,” OPS said.
The clarification comes days after OPS exited the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), citing lack of respect and communication from BJP leaders. His independent political stand has raised questions about his next move ahead of the 2026 state elections.
