Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin has strongly criticised AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami for rejoining hands with the BJP ahead of the 2026 elections.
In a letter to DMK party members, Stalin said that the BJP had already “betrayed Tamil Nadu” on many issues. Despite this, he said Palaniswami went to Delhi and “bowed down” to the BJP for political gain.
Stalin also said that even loyal AIADMK supporters are upset with this decision. He warned that this alliance is a danger to Tamil Nadu’s interests, and accused the AIADMK of giving up self-respect to please the BJP.
Referring to late DMK leader M. Karunanidhi’s ideals, Stalin asked DMK members to work hard and explain to people how this alliance would harm the state. He said the BJP’s politics of language, religion, and control from Delhi must be rejected by the people of Tamil Nadu.
