Actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) will announce on Tuesday a revised date for its second conference after police advised the party to advance its Aug 25 event in Madurai, citing Vinayagar Chathurthi security deployment.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Madurai superintendent of police B K Arvind, TVK general secretary N Anand said police informed them that bandobast on Aug 25 would be difficult as forces would be engaged from Aug 27 for idol processions and temple security.
“They asked us to pick a date between Aug 18 and 22. We submitted our revised date, which will be made public today,” he said.
The conference was initially planned for Aug 25, coinciding with the birth anniversary of actor and DMDK founder Vijayakanth. Police maintained that no permission was issued yet, even as preparatory work for the event is under way.
