Member of Parliament Kamal Haasan met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and made a request regarding the Keeladi excavation report.In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Kamal Haasan said, “I met with the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, as a matter of courtesy today. As an artist and a representative of Tamil Nadu, I made some requests to him. The most important of these is Keeladi. I asked the Prime Minister to support the initiatives of the Tamils to loudly proclaim the antiquity of Tamil and the greatness of Tamil civilization to the world.
This meeting comes after the Central Archaeological Department had requested revisions to the Keeladi study report submitted by archaeologist Amarnath Ramakrishnan in January 2023. Ramakrishnan had responded to the department, stating that the report was correct and that asking for changes was a “crime and an injustice.”
